Powerhouse Energy hooks up demonstration plant to microgrid at Thornton Science Park
AIM-quoted technology company Powerhouse Energy has seen its demonstration energy plant power the Energy Centre at University of Chester's Thornton Science Park microgrid for the first time.
Powerhouse used its demonstration energy generation plant for the first practical application of the firm's waste plastic to clean electrical conversion technology through its proprietary G3-UHt Distributed Modular Gasification process.
The firm viewed connection to the University's microgrid as a "meaningful step" in its business development strategy leading towards the production of mainstream commercial waste to hydrogen generation units.
"We are hugely grateful to our colleagues at the University who have supported the development of this technology for a year and have allowed us to demonstrate the power of our DMG facility at Thornton Science Park", said Bruce Nicholson, PowerHouse's commercial operations manager.
Keith Allaun, chief executive of PowerHouse, added, "This is a promising step along the path to the commercial roll-out of our waste to hydrogen solutions, which are also ideally suited to help reduce the vast quantities of waste plastic that is causing an environmental disaster across the world's oceans."
As of 0840 BST, Powerhouse shares had grown 6.19% to 0.52p.
