OptiBiotix Health scoops manufacturing and supply deal with Morley Foods
Life sciences firm OptiBiotix Health on Monday entered into an exclusive manufacturing and supply agreement with John Morley Foods for weight management technology SlimBiome.
John Morley Foods, which supplies ingredients to major retailers and food brands, will take 50% of the profit after spending the last six months developing a range of products containing SlimBiome to be sold as own-brand products or product line extensions for "well-known brands".
Aside from the manufacturing and supply aspect of the deal, John Morley Foods will promote the SlimBiome muesli packs.
Stephen O'Hara, chief executive of OptiBiotix, said: "We chose Morleys due to their reputation as one of the UK's leading suppliers of specialist ingredients and the energy and passion they have shown in developing a wide range of muesli products containing SlimBiome over the last six months. We believe working with Morleys, and similar partners around the world, provides the best opportunity of meeting the requirements of major retailers and global brands."
As well as its influence with major UK retailers, John Morley Group meets the needs of large consumer markets in India and the USA.
Simon Brown, managing director of John Morley Group, said: "This is an exciting development, and a range like this has not been done by anyone else. Mueslis are healthy, but now we're creating a muesli-plus, something that will help people control mid-morning snacking urges by making them feel fuller for longer."
As of 1130 BST, OptiBiotix Health's shares were down 0.76% at 65.50p.
