Verditek adds former science minister Lord Willetts to board
(WebFG News) - Clean technology firm Verditek announced on Thursday that Lord Willetts has been appointed as non-executive chairman with immediate effect.
Lord Willetts served as Member of Parliament for Havant for 23 years, which included a stint as minister for universities and science between 2010 and 2014, and is now a member of the House of Lords
Lord Willetts said: "As a strong supporter of clean technologies, I look forward to guiding this forward-thinking business in its mission to commercialise green technologies. I believe that Verditek's innovative range of clean energy products will help to meet the growing demand for a greener, cleaner planet."
Alongside his political exploits, Lord Willets has a history in business serving on the boards of Surrey Satellite Technology Limited and The Biotech Growth Trust.
Furthermore, he is the chairman of the Eight Great Technologies Fund and a board member at UK Research and Innovation.
Geoff Nesbitt, former chairman and current interim chief executive of Verditek, said: "Lord Willetts has an outstanding track record in supporting the development of science and technology. His passion in these fields, combined with his extensive business experience and knowledge of the technology sector, will be hugely beneficial to Verditek."
Meanwhile, non-executive director of Verditek José Luis del Valle will leave his role on 9 May after being named as under consideration for the role of non-executive chairman of a Spanish banking institution.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank José Luis for his contribution to the Company and wish him well in his endeavours," said Nesbitt.
As of 1140 BST, Verditek's shares were up 8% at 6.75p.
