Investors will be treated to a slew of economic releases in the States on Thursday, including readings on so-called 'high-frequency' indicators such as initial weekly unemployment claims and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia's regional manufacturing sector gauge.
Due out alongside those two reports as well are the NAHB's housing market index for March and figures on long-term capital flows.

Data on this side of the Atlantic on the other hand will be scarce, with no major releases scheduled in the UK and little on offer across the Channel.

Nevertheless, a reading for January on the size of the Italian government's debt pile may provide an interesting talking point.

In parallel, central banks in Switzerland and Norway are due to decide on interest rates.

Over in the corporate patch, and having just completed its takeover of US peer Regal Entertainment, Cineworld is among those slated to update markets on its full-year 2017 performance.

Deutsche Bank predicted the initial reaction to be led by current year trading for Regal in North America, the shorter-term film slate outlook, further guidance on the Regal investment opportunity thought to be about £220m net capex per year, confidence in quantum of merger synergies with $100m targeted, an update on debt for the enlarged business and the performance of the 'old' Cineworld estate.
