Surgical Innovations announced on Monday that its subsidiary Elemental Healthcare has signed a three year distribution deal with a Swiss company.
Bariatric Solutions specialises in innovative medical devices for the surgical treatment of obesity, which will now be distributed directly to the UK market by Elemental Healthcare.

Adam Power, group development director of Surgical Innovations, said: "Obesity is an increasing problem in the United Kingdom and surgery is an effective way to control the health issues related to it. The new products from Bariatric Solutions enable better results for a longer duration which fit perfectly with the aims of the NHS."

Surgical Innovations is a Leeds-based company which designs and manufactures technology for the purposes of minimally invasive surgery, and bought NHS medical product supplier Elemental Healthcare for £9.4m in July.

Arno Van der Veek, chief executive of Bariatric Solutions, said: "The UK market for obesity surgery is large and is growing. The adoption in the UK of techniques that are now commonplace in Europe will give us significant opportunities for sales growth. Elemental Healthcare, a Surgical Innovations Group company, is the leading UK distributor for obesity surgery products and we are excited about our joint opportunity."

As of 1141 GMT, Surgical Innovations' shares were up 1.46% at 3.47p.
