Science in Sport signs partnership deal with Manchester United
AIM-listed group Science in Sport (SIS) inked a deal on Thursday that saw it become the official sports nutrition partner of football club Manchester United.
The agreement between the London-based sports nutrition company and Manchester United was set to run from January 2018 through to the end of May 2021, affording SIS with an exclusive sports nutrition marketing license across Europe.
Stephen Moon, SIS' chief executive, said, "Football is a major growth opportunity for Science in Sport and this partnership will provide a substantial platform for our marketing efforts in the sport, by interacting with almost 90 million Manchester United fans across Europe."
SIS, which already provides nutrition advice to nine other Premier League clubs and the Team Sky cycling team, will provide a dedicated performance nutritionist to Manchester United to advise the club on nutritional strategies, along with the installation of a Fuel Station within the AON Training Complex, where players and staff could access SIS products on a daily basis.
Founded in 1992 and headquartered in London with a manufacturing facility in Nelson, Lancashire, SIS has three core product ranges; GO to provide energy via powders, isotonic gels, energy bars and hydration tablets; REGO focused on rapid recovery; and a protein and supplements. In the Rio 2016 Olympics, 34 medals were won by athletes using SIS products, with Team Sky using them during Tour de France victories in 2016 and 2017.
As of 1115 GMT, SIS shares had moved ahead 2.59% to 73.36p.
