Concurrent Tech launches new VME board products
Processor board developer Concurrent Technologies on Friday launched two new VME boards for long life-cycle applications.
The AIM-traded company's VME standard was launched several years ago and has been well received as robust and dependable, with products utilising the technology being widely deployed for a number of uses, according to Concurrent Technologies. VME (Versa Module Europa bus) is a standard form of computer bus, which are communication systems that transfers data between components inside a computer, or between computers.
Concurrent's new processor boards are based around Intel Xeon six-core and four-core processors and will incorporate "state of the art features".
The company said it aims to provide customers with an upgrade to performance and functionality without having the inconvenience and expense of re-designing their whole system.
The VME boards are particularly aimed at the defence market where it is anticipated that the life cycle will extend well beyond 2030.
Concurrent chief executive Glen Fawcett said: "We announced our previous VME boards in 2015 to provide users with dependable products that they could deploy in a range of environmental conditions. This announcement enhances our portfolio and further extends the life-cycle for those customers committed to the VMEbus standard through the implementation of some of the latest processors."
As of 0919 BST, Concurrent Tech's shares were down 0.59% at 84.50p.
