Oil Price - Pound, gold and oil prices in focus: commodity and currency check, 3 January

Data from the British Retail Consortium released on Friday showed a 2.2% decline in footfall on UK high streets in December. For the three months to December (also known as the golden quarter) footfall decreased by 2.5% year on year.
Oil prices post 3% annual decline, slipping for second year in a row
Oil prices rose on Tuesday after data showed China's manufacturing activity expanded in December, but they are on track to end lower for a second consecutive year due to demand concerns in top consuming countries.
