New CEO set to start in June as Mediclinic shuffles deck
Private healthcare services group Mediclinic announced on Thursday that Ronnie van der Merwe will be installed as chief executive and an executive director from 1 June.
Van der Merwe, who's appointment was announced in late November, has been with FTSE 100 listed company Mediclinic for 19 years and has been a member of its executive committee since 2008.
Outgoing chief executive Danie Meintjes will remain as a non-executive director until Mediclinic's general meeting on 25 January, while non-executive directors Nandi Mandela and Robert Leu will retire from their positions and all relevant board committees.
Edwin Hertzog, chairman of Mediclinic, said: "On behalf of my colleagues on the Board, I would like to thank Nandi and Robert for their commitment and valued contributions to the Board and the Group - in Robert's case during 25 years, firstly as a Director of Hirslanden AG, then Mediclinic International Limited and since 2016, as a Director of Mediclinic International plc."
Furthermore, Felicity Harvey will take over from Edwin Hertzog as chair of the clinical performance and sustainability committee and Muhadditha Al Hashimi is to join the same committee as an additional member.
Despite vacating his position as chair, Hertzog will remain on the board as a member.
"We welcome Felicity's appointment as Chair of the Clinical Performance and Sustainability Committee and Muhadditha becoming a member of that Committee," said Hertzog.
As of 1357 BST, Mediclinic's shares were up 3.92% at 594.20p.
