IronRidge encounters much pegmatite at Ghanaian asset
Mineral explorer IronRidge Resources has discovered multiple, broad visible pegmatite intersections as part of a reverse circulation drilling programme focused at finding lithium sources at its Ewoyaa project in Ghana, West Africa.
AIM-listed IronRidge encountered continuous pegmatite intersections, ranging from 40 to 130 metres across the first nine holes drilled at Ewoyaa. Pegmatite is sometimes a source of lithium ore.
While RC drilling was ongoing, with diamond core drilling planned on completion, drilling samples from first nine holes had been sent to IronRidge's laboratory for analysis. Results of the assays were expected to be received within the next two months.
Len Kolff, chief geologist of IronRidge, said, "130m of continuous visible pegmatite from surface in RC drilling is a very significant drill intersection; notwithstanding multiple additional visible pegmatite intersections including 62m and 40m in the first nine holes drilled."
"The proximity of the project to an operating port, the national highway and grid power within the pro-mining jurisdiction of Ghana is potentially a real positive," he added.
As of 0920 BST, IronRidge shares had picked up 2.18% to 25.80p.
