Earthport poaches new CEO from Microsoft
Cross-border payments enabler Earthport has poached a Microsoft general manager Amanda Mesler to fill its vacant chief executive role.
Earthport's previous chief executive Hank Uberoi stood down from the role in December to become the firm's executive chairman in order to "fully focus on a growing number of strategic opportunities and partnerships", beginning the search beginning for the firm's new head of daily operations.
Phil Hickman, who took over from Uberoi on an interim basis in January, will return to his previous role as non-executive chairman on 1 July when Mesler, a 25-year industry veteran, will take the reins.
Uberoi said, "We are delighted to have such a talented and experienced global technology leader as Amanda join us to guide Earthport in the next stage of its growth. Everyone on the management team and board is excited to welcome her as CEO."
Mesler added, "The scale of the opportunity at Earthport is substantial and I am confident that my experience, working for a wide variety of businesses within the technology and fintech sectors, will help the Company reach its true potential as a leading global payments network."
With traditional cross-border payments seen by some as unpredictable in speed and price, Earthport says its technology and payment network of 65-plus countries allows direct access to local banks where payments are being sent, which is designed to cut down on complexity and fees and improve visibility.
As of 1130 BST, Earthport share had dipped 0.18% to 9.24p.
