Dalata ramps up UK expansion with two further planned hotels
Dalata Hotel Group will continue its UK expansion after agreeing to lease two new hotels that are to be built in Bristol and Birmingham, according to a company announcement on Wednesday.
The two hotels will add 580 rooms to the AIM-traded Irish company's portfolio, which now contains 1,700 new rooms in its development pipeline.
Dermot Crowley, Deputy CEO - Business Development and Finance, said: "We are delighted to secure agreements to lease these two very exciting new hotels in the heart of Bristol and Birmingham. Both cities possess very strong hotel markets and these two projects demonstrate our ability to grow a very attractive development pipeline of hotels in the UK."
Bristol will see a new Clayton Hotel which is to be developed by Artisan Real Estate Investors and opened in 2020, while a new Maldron Hotel will call Birmingham home after being developed by McAleer & Rushe before its expected 2021 opening.
The company operates the Clayton and Maldron hotel brands under which it has a total of 12 hotels in the UK and 24 in Ireland.
Two further Clayton hotels are also planned for development in Manchester and Glasgow.
Clive Wilding, property director at Artisan Real Estate Group, said: "It is great to be doing our second hotel with Dalata and with such an interesting building situated in the heart of the historic Bristol city centre. The 4 star Clayton hotel with restaurant, bar, and well managed business space, forms the centre piece of a mixed use development."
As of 1219 BST, Dalata Hotel Group's shares were down 0.51% at 588.00p.
