Forex Outlook for the Week Ending August 24th
Major economic events which could significantly affect the forex markets for the week ending August 24th, 2012 are as under:
On Monday, August 20th, euro zone reported its data on construction output while in United States, Chicago Federal Reserve, reported its Nat Activity index. In United Kingdom, data on house prices was released.
On Tuesday, August 21st, 2012, Spain auctioned its 12 months and 18 months treasury bills in the Europe. In United States, Federal Reserve’s official Lockhart addressed at an event in Atlanta. In United Kingdom, data on public sector net borrowing, ex interventions, public finances, CBI Trends total orders and CBI Trends selling prices was reported. In Switzerland, data on M3 money supply was published.
Canada came up with data on wholesale sales. In Australia, the Reserve Bank of Australia released the minutes of its latest monetary policy meeting while Japan reported its data on industry all activity index and department store sales.
On Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012, United State reported its data on existing home sales and MBA mortgage applications while Energy Information Administration will report its inventories data for crude oil, gasoline and distillates. US Federal Reserve also released minutes of its 1st FOMC meeting. Canada reported its data on retail sales on Wednesday. In Australia data, Westpac leading index was released while Japan published its data on trade balance.
On Thursday, August 23rd, Germany released several reports in the euro zone which included data on construction investment, government spending, gross domestic product, capital investment and purchasing managers’ index for manufacturing and services sector. France came up with data on PMI for both services and manufacturing sector while a separate PMI for services and manufacturing sector was also released for the single currency region. Euro zone also reported its data on consumer confidence today.
In United States, data on initial jobless claims, continuing claims, house price index, new home sales and new home purchase index was reported while EIA released its data on natural gas supplies. In United Kingdom, data on BBA loans for house purchase was published. Switzerland released its data on trade balance. In Japan, data on Japan’s buying in foreign bonds and stocks and foreign buying in Japanese bonds and stocks was released.
On Friday, August 24th, data on German import price index is expected while Greece’s Prime Minister Samaras will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. In United States, data on durable goods orders will be published.
United Kingdom will come up with data on index of services, total business investment, imports, exports, gross fixed capital formation, government spending, private consumption and gross domestic product.
