Major Economic Events to Affect the Forex Markets

On Monday, stock markets in United States remained closed in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In euro zone, European Central Bank’s President, Mario Draghi appeared before the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. In United Kingdom, industry report on house price inflation was published.

In Japan, official data on core machinery orders was released while in Australia, industry data on job advertisement along with data on home loans was published.

On Tuesday, in euro zone, data on consumer price inflation and ZEW index of economic sentiment was released. Moreover, report on German ZEW economic sentiment index was also published today. In United States, Empire State Manufacturing index was reported. Bank of England’s Governor also appeared in front of Treasury Committee to give his statement on Financial Stability Report. In United States, Empire State Manufacturing index was reported.

In Canada, government data on foreign securities purchases was reported. Japan published its data on tertiary industry activity while New Zealand published its data on business confidence and house price inflation.

On Wednesday, January 18th, 2012, several reports will be published United States which will include data on producer price inflation, data on foreign purchases of long term securities, data on industrial production, data on crude oil stockpiles and report on capacity utilization rate by US Federal Reserve. In United Kingdom, government data on claimant count change and employment rate was published.

Australia reported its data on consumer sentiment along data on new motor vehicle sales. In Canada, the central bank released its monetary policy report.

On January 19th, 2012, United States will release its data on building reports along with its official data on consumer price inflation. Moreover, the US Labor Department will publish its data on jobless claims along with official data on housing starts and manufacturing activity in Philadelphia.

In euro zone, European Central Bank will publish its data on current account along with its monthly bulletin.

In New Zealand, government data on consumer price inflation will be published while Australia will release its inflation expectations by Melbourne Institute. Australia will also publish its data on employment data and employment rate. In Canada, government data on manufacturing sales will be reported.

On Friday January 20th, 2012, the United States will report its data on existing home sales by National Association of Realtors. In United Kingdom, government data on retail sales will be published. Australia will release its data on import prices while in Canada, official data on consumer price inflation and wholesale sales will be published.
