Weekly Outlook: Currencies
List of major events that could affect the forex markets for the week ended June 24th, 2011 are as follows:-
Today report on house price inflation is to be published in United Kingdom while in euro zone finance ministers have met in Brussels to decide on the new aid package for Greece. Germany also reported its data on producer price inflation. In Japan official data on the country’s trade balance was published.
Today Bank of Canada’s Governor Mark Carney will publicly address at an event where his comments will be closely followed for the future protection of country’s monetary policy.
On Tuesday June 21st, 2011, Australia will report its index of leading economic indicators, which is regarding as the key indicator for assessing the direction of the economy. United Kingdom will report its official data on public borrowing while in euro zone Germany will publish its report on economic sentiment. United States will publish its data on existing home sales while in Canada official report on retail sales will be published.
On Wednesday June 22nd, 2011, official data on current account will be reported in New Zealand along with data on credit card spending. In United Kingdom, Bank of England will report its minutes of monetary policy meeting. In euro zone official report on new orders along with data on consumer confidence will be published. In euro zone official report on industrial new orders along with data on consumer confidence will be published. In United States, Federal Reserve will release its federal funds rate.
On Thursday, Australia will report its index of leading economic indicators. Switzerland is to report its data on trade balance while in euro zone data on manufacturing and service sector activity will be published.
United Kingdom will release its report on mortgage approvals along with data on retail sales and consumer spending. United Sates will report its data on initial jobless claims and new home sales.
On Friday June 24th, 2011, report on German business climate will be published by Ifo Institute for Economic Research while in London, BOE’s Governor Mervyn King will address in a press conference which will be watched closely to assess the future direction of monetary policy. United States will publish several reports on Friday including data on durable goods orders and gross domestic product.
