FTSE steady as Northern Rock recovery continues
London equities stayed flat with a small measure of momentum from oil companies countered by weakening mining companies as share prices traced commodities markets. Northern Rock continued to rise on news of an extentsion to the Bank of England’s guarantee to protect its savers’ deposits
