Former Tomkins boss Greg Hutchings has failed in his latest attempt to get back on the board of Lupus Capital.

There were six resolutions tabled at the requisitioned EGM and they were all comfortably defeated. The lowest vote against any of the resolutions was 77.6% of the votes cast.

The resolution to reappoint Hutchings had 78.9% of the shares voted against it, while 79.8% voted against the resolution to appoint Hutchings as chief executive.

Hutchings had offered to work for £1 a year until the share price reached 90p.

This is the second time that Hutchings, who has £9m invested in Lupus, has attempted to return to the board. He was defeated at an EGM on 30 October 2009 but it was less clear cut. He received the backing of more than two-fifths of the shares voted for each resolution at that meeting.

There were fewer shares voted at the latest EGM.
