Europe close: Stocks finish marginally ahead

European stocks finished marginally higher as several markets were closed for the Christmas holiday.
Germany, Italy, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland were all shut today. Euronext and London markets closed early.
The French CAC finished up 2 points to 3912, while the FTSE 100 did better; ending 30 points higher.
Energy shares such as Repsol and Total are higher, tracking the gains seen in crude oil prices.
Financial stocks were mixed with Societe Generale and Credit Agricole higher, while BNP Paribas and Natixis are posting losses.
Vivendi was lower after the French media firm boosted its stake in Brazilian telecom company GVT to 81.82%.
