The World Bank has cut its 2013 forecast for China growth to 7.6 per cent from a previously estimated 7.7 per cent.
The bank cited a "bumpy start to the year" following the release of weak economic data.
However, the bank expects recent reforms in China may boost sustainable growth in the long term.
In November last year the Chinese government laid out extensive reforms to lift its economy over the next 10 years.
"If implemented, the reforms will have a profound impact on China's land, labour, and capital markets, and enhance the long-term sustainability of its economic growth," the bank said in its latest report.
"Some reforms, including efforts to reduce regulatory and administrative burdens, reform taxation, and make more land available for commercial activities, are also likely to support growth in the short term."
The bank also cut its growth outlook for Thailand to 3% this year, down from its earlier projection of 4.5% growth.
