One of New World Resources' employees was fatally injured at a mine in the Czech Republic at the weekend, the Central Europe-focused coal and coke producer revealed on Monday morning.

The incident took place on Saturday October 20th, where a 48-year-old miner was killed around 900m underground at the Paskov Mine of New World's Czech subsidiary, OKD.

"NWR expresses its deepest condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased miner," the firm said in a statement.

The company said that an investigative committee is now conducting an enquiry into the accident, made up of members of the District Mining Authority in Ostrava, Paskov Mine management, OKD management, the OKD Trade Unions representatives and the police.

"The incident had no impact on production," the firm reassured.
