The Federal Reserve's Beige Book will be unveiled Wednesday ahead of the central bank's highly anticipated policy meeting.
The book is a report in which each Federal Reserve bank gathers anecdotal information on current economic conditions in its district.
It includes reports from bank and branch directors and interviews with key business contacts, economists, market experts and other sources.
The report, published eight times a year, comes before the Fed's meeting on September 17th to 18th when it is expected to start reducing its $85bn per month in bond purchases.
The Fed has said it would begin scaling back monetary stimulus once employment and the economy recovers markedly so the Beige Book should provide some indication as to where policymakers feel America's financial state stands.
On the same day, the US trade balance will be released which is expected show the deficit came in at $38.6bn in July compared to $34.2bn a month earlier.
In Europe, the release of gross domestic product (GDP) figures for the second quarter will closely watched and is forecast to hold steady at a 0.3% growth rate compared to the previous quarter. Year-on-year, GDP is likely to fall down 0.7%, in line with the same period in 2012, according to economists' predictions.
A separate report is anticipated to show Eurozone retail sales fell 0.3% in July after a drop of 0.09% in June.
Meanwhile, Markit's UK Services purchasing managers'index is tipped to ring in at 59 for August, down from 60.2 the previous month. A reading above 50 signals expansion.
In company news, Hargreaves Lansdown will take centre stage as it releases its full-year interims.
According to The Sunday Times, the company's founders Stephen Lansdown and Peter Hargreaves are in line for dividend payouts totalling £40m after the investments fund broker reports its results. Analysts have pegged the final dividend at about 16p a share.
