The main US equity market gauges are now being called to start the day 0.1 per cent higher on average following yesterday´s timid bounce and after the release of better than expected macroeconomic data on Wall Street this afternoon.

US durable goods orders rose fell by 5.2% month-on-month in January (Consensus: -4.9%), but only due to the sharp and outsized fall seen in the often volatile civilian aircraft category. Military aircraft orders also fell sharply as government spending was curtailed as 'sequestration' kicked in.

Excluding transportation however durable goods orders were actually better than forecast, rising by 1.9% on the month. More significantly, so-called durable goods orders rose very rapidly, by 6.3% month-on-month.

Shares of on-line travel agency Priceline.com are advancing after announcing a 26% rise in fourth quarter adjusted profits.

Edison International has released better—than-expected quarterly results and guided higher for the year.

Front month West Texas crude futures are now higher by 0.13% to 92.51 dollars on the NYMEX.

10 year US Treasury yields are falling by 3 basis points to the 1.85%.
