Tristel, a manufacturer of infection prevention, contamination control and hygiene products, has received a licence from the Health Department of the People's Republic of China to import and sell the Tristel Wipes System.
The system decontaminates and disinfects non-lumened medical devices, such as endoscopes, in less than two minutes.
Tristel Chief Executive Officer, Paul Swinney, said: "We identified a number of years ago that there is a family of small heat-sensitive instruments that have been largely neglected by infection control companies.
"The instruments are short and simple in construction because they only have to reach into the smaller cavities of the body. In contrast, our competitors have focused upon digestive and respiratory medicine where instruments have to be larger to reach the parts of the body that they need to investigate, for example the colon."
Tristel's worldwide sales of the Wipes System in the financial year ended June 30th had increased by 56.6% to £3.4m (2011: £2.2m), and contributed to total sales of £10.9m across the group.
The share price fell 1.54% to 32p by 14:08.
