Sarantel Group jumped after it struck a deal to supply Leica Cameras with GPS antennas designed to give geotagging data to photographers who want to sort and display their images based on location. Sarantel said its Multifunctional Handgrip M accessory would "give photographers a reliable GPS solution in even the most challenging environments". Shares were up 8.3 per cent following the announcement despite no details of the size of the contract.
Ceramic Fuel Cells said 25 of its BlueGen natural gas-to-electricity units were being used to power Germany's first commercial, virtual fuel cell power plant. A virtual power plant is a cluster of electricity generation units, controlled and operated by a central entity using integrated software systems. It allows power generation to be altered to meet peak loads and balance intermittent power from wind or solar, with higher efficiency and more flexibility than large centralised power stations. Shares rose 6.2% on the news.
Directors at Timeweave, which owns a 50% stake in racecourse TV Channel TurfTV, have given in and recommended a 22p a share cash offer from major shareholder Mayfair Capital. They had originally rejected the offer, which values the company at around £50m. However, they said there was a "significantly increased likelihood" that Mayfair would achieve the 75% holding it needed for the company's shares to be cancelled from trading on AIM following the closing date of the offer on October 16th. They advised shareholders to accept the deal, warning the value of any outstanding Timeweave stock would be badly hit if trading was cancelled.
