Shares in Amur Minerals picked up after the Far East Russia-focused gold miner said the last results from its 2010 exploration campaign were 'excellent.'

Sampling was conducted between two deposits, Maly Krumkon and Ikenskoe, and showed that a nickel anomaly linking the two deposits was discovered.

Wins from big names such as Sony, Danone and Tropicana helped marketing firm Creston to a 6% rise in revenues in the nine months to 31 December from the same period the previous year.

Noventa, which mines in Mozambique for Tantalum, a metal used in consumer electronics, said it was cheered by strong prices for the commodity as it posted its full-year results.

In the year to 31 December, losses narrowed to £10.3m from £10.8m the previous year.

African diamond miner Diamondcorp said it is on schedule and within budget in its quest to access the main kimberlite pipe -260m metres level at the Lace mine near Krronstad, despite flooding in the project area in recent weeks.

The company said that 1,328 carats of diamonds recovered during plant recommissioning will be tendered in Johannesburg during February to determine current market price for Lace tailings diamonds.

Uzbekistan-focused gold miner Oxos Gold has conditionally agreed to sell its 50% stake in Amantaytau Goldfields (AGF) to Uzbek shareholders for cash, though only if the price is right.

The company added that it has implemented a significant cost reduction programme throughout the group.
