An Ayrshire couple has donated part of their lottery winnings to the 'Yes Scotland' independence campaign, in effect tripling all of the funds now available to the unionist movement 'Better Together'.
Colin and Chris Weir have donated £3m (€3.6m) to said political movement out of the €196m which they won in a 2011 drawing from the Euromillions lottery, Spanish newspaper El Mundo reports.
The 'Yes Scotland' campaign is led by Blair Jenkins, the former head of Scottish TV channel STV, for whom Weir was a cameraman.
Despite the still significant number of undecided voters analysts at investment banks such as Credit Suisse warned clients last week that political uncertainty in the UK was a factor to contend with when choosing which percentage of their funds to allocate to British financial assets.
Ironically, one of the major risks seen on the horizon by the Swiss broker is a UK vote on membership of the European Union - it attaches a 40% probability to a 'yes' outcome.
However, the risk of Scotland seceding was considered non-negligible too, and is at about 20% by their estimates.
