Sally Schofield has been appointed Chairperson of Edenville Energy, the coal-focused African energy exploration and development company, succeeding Simon Rollason.

A statement issued by the company on Tuesday said that Rollason had stepped down as Chairman of the company to concentrate on other commitments and responsibilities. It said that he would remain with the company as a Non-Executive Director.

Schofield, who was a Non-Executive Director before assuming the Chairperson's position on a permanent basis, commented: "Simon has been with the company since 2010 and has been instrumental in building Edenville into a company with a JORC resource of over 39m tonnes of coal.

"We would like to thank him for his dedication over the years and look forward to continuing to draw on his extensive experience as a Non-Executive Director as we move into a key phase for Edenville. 2013 will be a crucial year for Edenville and I look forward to ensuring that the company delivers on key milestones throughout the year."

Edenville Energy's share price was down 7.55% to 0.24p at 13:44 on Tuesday afternoon.
