Oil and gas company Ophir Energy has appointed Dennis McShane as the new Director of Corporate Strategy.

McShane takes on the Executive Director role after more than five years as a Non-Executive Director on the board.

He has 25 years of experience in the resources sector, including as an investment banker for JP Morgan Chase.

A founding principal of Midas Resource Partners, he was previously the Executive Director of Finance and Business Strategy at the Ferrexpo Group.

The company also announced the appointment of Non-Executive Director Bill Schrader, who has more than 25 years of experience at BP including as country head of Indonesia and Angola.

Schrader was also President of BP's joint venture in Azerbaijan for five years and Chief Operating Officer of TNK-BP in Russia.

"His oil and gas operational experience in complex emerging markets will be invaluable to us. We are also delighted that Dennis McShane has agreed to move into an executive role. Dennis has been involved with the company's growth for over five years and brings his natural resources and strategic expertise to the team."
