Official Receiver announces 101 further job losses at Carillion
More than 100 additional Carillion employees have been made redundant on Thursday, pushing the total figure to 930, according to the Official Receiver.
The 101 job cuts were said to be made up of a "mix of back-office functions and engineering support roles" that were no longer required by those picking up Carillion's old contracts.
The Official Receiver claimed to have protected a further 1,221 jobs, all of which were connected to public and private contracts at a city council, as well as a range of facilities management services, bringing the total amount of jobs safeguarded to 2,250.
"We continue to engage with staff, elected employee representatives and unions throughout," the Official Receiver said on Thursday.
"Those who have lost their jobs will be able to find support through Jobcentre Plus' Rapid Response Service and are also entitled to make a claim for statutory redundancy payments," the liquidator added.
Earlier this week, Carillion's former board members were scrutinised by both the business and the work and pensions select committees, which had been conducting a joint inquiry into the company's collapse.
