Microsaic rockets on German product deal
Microsaic Systems saw its share price soar on Thursday as the company signed a heads of terms agreement with German's Knauer Wissenschaftliche Geräte over the AIM company's mass spectrometry technology.
The agreement concerns the integration of Microsaic's mass spectrometry technology into Knauer's liquid chromatography platform with the finished products to be sold on the German market via Knauer's existing distribution network.
Glenn Tracey, chief executive of Microsaic, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Knauer, which is well known for product quality, breadth of applications' expertise, and commitment to customer quality. Integrating with our compact MS technology will enable Knauer to extend its reach into mass directed applications, where customers demand higher chemical elucidation."
Microsaic seeks to allow for agile sample detection and identification with its mass spectrometry technology through providing detailed sample data to improve decision making ability and productivity. Mass spectrometry is used to quantify materials, identify compounds within a sample and to understand the structure and chemical properties of different molecules, used in biology, chemistry, and physics, but also in clinical medicine and even space exploration.
Alexandra Knauer, chief executive of Knauer, said: "Our customers in the field of liquid chromatography purification increasingly demand more confidence in fractionation than UltraViolet or Diode Array Detection based setups can provide. Microsaic offers an attractive MS detection system, which will perfectly complement our existing LC purification solutions."
As of 0846 BST, Microsaic Systems' shares were up 68.57% at 2.95p.
