The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD's) composite leading indicators (CLIs), which are designed to anticipate turning-points in economic activity relative to trend, showed signs of a stabilising economic outlook in most major economies in November.

For the United States and the United Kingdom the CLIs continued to point to economic growth firming, the OECD highlighted. In China signs of a turning point were more marked than in last month's assessment. There were also tentative signs of a turning point in India.

The US CLI improved to 101 points from 100.8 in October, while that for Britain rose to 100.7 from 100.5.

The CLIs for Italy, Germany, France and the euro area as a whole pointed to a stabilisation in growth prospects. Likewise, in Brazil and Japan tentative signs of stabilising growth were emerging.

On the other hand, the CLIs for Canada and Russia continued to signal weak growth prospects.
