AIM-listed natural resources developer Beowulf Mining has issued an operational update regarding a recent legislative issue relating to its subsidiary Jokkmokk Iron mines AB (JIMAB).
The company revealed that JIMAB, which is currently involved in drilling development in Kallak - a region with an indigenous population known as the Saami community - had been informed that the Saami community had lodged an appeal with the Court of Land and Environment Issues in Umea in respect of JIMAB's approved Kallak South work plan.
Beowulf stated that the Swedish Mining Inspectorate's existing decision in respect of the particular work plan was effective immediately, regardless of whether an appeal was lodged within the requisite time period, adding that the work plan remained valid until JIMAB was advised otherwise by the court.
The appeal follows a previous intervention by the local community last year which resulted in operations at the work plan being temporarily suspended.
Beowulf's share price was down 3.51% to 13.75p at 09:55 on Friday.
