WH Smith rose after Numis upgraded the stock to add with a target price of 710p.

Ocado was a strong riser, extending last week's gains following a 70% rise in sales over the festive period.

Stobart was also higher after announcing a change of hands at the top. Non-Executive Chairman of the UK-based support services firm, Rodney Baker-Bates, has announced his plans to retire with immediate effect. Deputy Chief Executive Avril Palmer-Baunack, who took up the role following the group's acquisition of Autologic last year, has now been appointed as Executive Chairman will immediate effect.

Easyjet was knocked lower after Citigroup downgraded the stock from buy to neutral and Investec downgraded it from buy to hold. Despite the downgrades, both raised their target price on the stock.
