EMED Mining, a Europe focused mining firm, has issued a fraud warning to investors who may have been approached to buy shares in the firm.
A company calling itself First Private Clients Limited is allegedly calling investors pretending to be an agent of EMED and offering to sell equities in the firm.
In response EMED has said it "wishes to advise the market that it has no relationship whatsoever with First Private Clients Limited and that the representations being made by them are false."
If contacted investors should email info@emed-mining.com The firm says it will then refer the matter to the authorities.
So called "boiler room" scams are a common hazard faced by investors, a small fraction of whom are lured into making huge investments into firms or instruments that do not exist.
EMED is the second small-cap company in as many weeks to warn shareholders of scamming activity. Last week offshore wind development firm SeaEnergy said shareholders in the company have been approached by scammers falsely representing the company, calling themselves a variety of names in an attempt to persuade investors to enter into transactions regarding their SeaEnergy shares.
The scammers, who go by the names International Merger Services, The IMS Group, IMS Group and I.M.S Group, have also made attempts in relation to non-existent warrant instruments in relation to the company.
