Commodities: Oil flat as violence in Iraq continues

US crude oil prices were little changed on Monday as the ongoing violence in Iraq remained in focus.
Crude for July delivery settled 1 cent lower at $106.90 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, snapping a three session losing streak.
Violence in Iraq intensified over the weekend with over 270 rebels killed by Iraq's army as areas in the north of the country are seized.
Meanwhile European benchmark, Brent crude gained 48 cents to $112.94 a barrel on the ICE Futures Europe exchange as investors fret about disruptions to oil supplies from oil rich Iraq.
Gold futures settled a touch higher on Monday as investors cheered stronger-than-expected US economic.
The Empire State manufacturing index rose to 19.28 in June from 19.01 the month before as activity in the sector grew faster than expected.
A separate report said US industrial production increased by 0.6% in May, recovering from the revised 0.3% contraction in April and beating the 0.5% rise expected.
Gold for August delivery gained $1.20 to settle at $1,275.30 an ounce on the Comex.
