Cluff Gold has confirmed that 'an illegal labour dispute' has interrupted production at its Kalsaka mine in Burkina Faso.

The West African focused-gold miner is the latest in a string of African mining firms to have faced industrial unrest by staff recently.

In May Eastern Platinum said its flagship Crocodile River Mine had been damaged following a violent wage dispute with members of the National Union of Mineworkers, who drove mine vehicles through the security gate to one of its South African operations.

Shortly after, Avocet Mining had to halt operations at its Inata mine in Burkina Faso after a breakdown in discussions involving wage reclassifications, general salary increases and other benefits.

Cluff said the dispute would not affect the Company's annual production guidance of 70,000 ounces in 2011 as production at the mine had been running ahead of budget.

The company added that constructive wage negotiations were still ongoing and it would provide a further update in due course, including, if necessary, a revision to the annual production guidance.
