Capita, the UK outsourcing group listed on the FTSE 100, is to buy Northgate Managed Services (NMS), a cloud-based infrastructure solutions and specialist managed services.

The business has agreed to be acquired from Northgate Information Solutions for an enterprise value of £65m, comprising £22m in cash, the assumption by Capita of a £17m pension deficit and finance leases for equipment used of £26m.

Capita's Chief Executive Paul Pindar said: "As the pressure mounts for businesses to gain efficiency, technology has a growing role to play.

By combining NMS's managed IT services with Capita's complementary business process and IT outsourcing capabilities, Capita will enhance its offering to clients and enable them to transform the way they do business."

NMS is headquartered in Newtownabbey in Northern Ierland and employs around 1,000 people.
