Telecomms firm Cable & Wireless Worldwide will expand its data hosting capacity by 25% through a 15-year agreement with specialist data centre operator, Infinity.

The firm believes the multi-million pound investment reinforces C&W's commitment to hosting services and illustrates its willingness to support core capabilities.

The new facility, which is based at a secure site in the South East of England, will become available from late 2012.

Chief Executive Officer Gavin Darby said: "Data hosting is one of our critical areas of focus for the near future and will be a vital part of our return to growth.

"This announcement highlights the details of the plans we outlined in November last year. I believe that we are shaping our business to better serve our customers and secure our position in this growing market."

The share price fell 9.16% to 21.71p, although this could be seen pull-back from the mystery 30% rise on Monday.
