AIM-listed metals processing company Berkeley Mineral Resources expects to receive feedback on its lead and zinc benification plant in Zambia as early as February, a trading update published by the company on Monday has disclosed.
The company, which appointed Ascot Group to draw up plans for its benefication plant in central Zambia last year, reported that the team had arrived and would release its findings in the next month.
The Ascot Group technical team, headed by Chief Executive Officer Ray Power, is expected to survey and inspect tailings on the ground at Berkeley's Kabwe mine site.
Following the inspections, the team will prepare a metallurgical flow chart detailing the preferred process to be implemented so as to optimise commercial exploitation of the tailings.
Following this, a pre-feasibility study for the processing of both the washplant and leachplant tailings is expected to be be produced.
Masoud Alikhani, Chairman of Berkeley Mineral Resources, commented: "We are pleased that the team from Ascot Group is now in Zambia and look forward to receiving their conclusions in February on how we can swiftly commence to maximise the returns we can expect from our stockpile assets at Kabwe".
Berkeley Mineral Resources' share price was down 2.0% to 2.45p at 09:25 on Monday morning.
