Bango wins regional billing service contract with Netflix
Mobile payments company Bango has teamed up with video streaming giant Netflix to allow online video streaming customers in Mexico to subscribe via their mobile phone bill.
Bango announced on Monday that new and existing Netflix customers in the North American nation would be able to charge the monthly subscription cost of their subscription to their pre and post-paid mobile phone bills.
Enabled by Bango, the 'carrier billing' service would initially be available to more than 12m Mexican subscribers on any platform, including Android, Apple and Microsoft devices.
Bango chief executive Ray Anderson said, "Carrier billing adds many new customers to merchant services. We are pleased to provide a fast, safe, easy to use alternative payment method for Netflix customers in Mexico. Netflix is a hugely popular entertainment service and Bango is delighted that the world's major merchants are choosing to plug into the Bango Platform"
The group also noted that its continued focus on growing End User Spend (EUS) through the Bango platform had brought trading in line with expectations during 2017, posting a 105% increase to £271m in total EUS.
As of 1120 GMT, shares had declined 6.24% to 242.38p.
