Banco Sabadell net income falls 39% in 2011

Spanish bank Banco Sabadell reported a net income of €231.9m, 39% less than a year earlier after booking non-performing loans (NPL) and other provisions in the amount of €1.048bn.
According to a statement to the CNMV (Spanish market regulator), the bank's core capital at the close of the year was 9.01% while the bad debt ratio was 5.95% compared to the sector average of 7%.
Banco Sabadell's president Josep Oliu stated that the company's targets have been reached in a year when the number of customers rose 3.4% to 2.7 million.
Shares were up 0.1% at €2.94 in afternoon trade in Madrid.
