BAE Systems has been selected as one of the prime contractors to provide software and system engineering services to the US Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM).
The UK defence contractor will offer support to the CECOM's Software Engineering Center (SEC) under a five-year multi-award Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity deal estimated at $7bn.
The company and fellow contractors will help the SEC ensure the smooth running of the US Army's systems through maintenance and support to control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems.
"Our team offers C4ISR domain expertise and the global footprint necessary to execute CECOM's software and systems sustainment mission," said DeEtte Gray, president of BAE Systems' Intelligence and Security sector.
"From evaluating software capabilities for enterprise cloud computing systems, to integrating mobile cybersecurity solutions for tactical battlefield communications, we are committed to supporting the daily mission of US Army CECOM."
The news comes after BAE landed a £2.5bn deal to supply 12 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft and eight Hawk training jets to Oman. BAE will also provide in-service support to the Royal Air Force of Oman's (RAFO) operational tasks.
Shares rose 0.31% to 351.40p at 9:27 Monday.
