AIM-listed Asian Citrus, the single largest orange producer in China, has unveiled details of its winter crop yield, revealing a decline in oranges harvested.
The total actual winter orange crop yield of the group's two operational plantations was approximately 161,233 tonnes, 6% less than the 171,607 tonnes collected in 2011.
The group said this was broadly in line with the tonnage indicated in its Winter Orange Crop Statement issued last November.
The Winter Orange crop from the Group's Hepu Plantation was approximately 32,838 tonnes in the current year. During the year ended June 30th, 66,449 Winter Orange trees were removed and replanted with the same number of the Summer Orange trees resulting in the year's Winter Orange crop yield being 26.9% lower than in 2011.
The actual Winter Orange crop from the Group's Xinfeng Plantation increased from approximately 126,701 tonnes last year to approximately 128,395 tonnes in the current year, representing an increase of approximately 1.3%.
Unstable weather and persistent heavy rainfall in 2012 were blamed for the limited the growth of the year's Winter Orange crop in the Xinfeng Plantation.
