Directors bought stakes in Ashley House following the care home builder's interim results yesterday.

Six directors took stakes in the company, with the biggest coming from chairman William Wells, deputy chairman Stephen Minion, chief executive Jonathan Holmes and finance director Antony Waters. They each took 88,000 shares at 28p a time, paying nearly £25,000 each.

Minion is the biggest shareholder among the directors who splashed out. He now has more than 3.8m shares or about 6.66% of the company

The purchases came on the same day the company said reported a fall in pre-tax profits amid difficult conditions "created by the current uncertainty about the future direction of the NHS."

Ashley House has a large portfolio of properties across England.
