AIM-quoted minerals explorer African Consolidated Resources says that it has not received any formal notice from the Zimbabwe government about the rumoured cancellation of its mineral claims.
Mines Minister Obert Mpofu is quoted by Business Day as saying that ACR's licences "will be revoked because there were irregularities when they were issued". He said that this means that they were acquired fraudulently.
ACR claims that there were no irregularities and none of the licences were acquired fraudulently.
ACR says that it has been in dispute with the Zimbabwe Ministry of Mines since March 2007 when it discovered the Marange alluvial diamond deposit.
