African Barrick Gold has unveiled Kelvin Dushnisky as its new Chairman with immediate effect, replacing Acting Chairman Derek Pannell, who has decided not to run for re-election in April in order to concentrate on other commitments.

Dushnisky joined the board in June last year and is currently Senior Executive Vice President of Barrick Gold Corp.

He had more than 25 years of experience in broad-ranging roles across the mining industry, the group said.

Prior to that he was a member of management at Sutton Resources Ltd., which owned the Bulyanhulu and Kabanga properties in Tanzania before they were acquired by Barrick. Mr Dushnisky has had a close association with ABG's Tanzanian assets and business for nearly two decades.

Dushnisky commented: "It is a privilege to be accepting the position of Chairman of the Board of African Barrick Gold, a company with an excellent platform and great potential. Management have outlined the operational priorities for the business and the board looks forward to helping to ensure these are achieved.

"I would like to personally thank Derek Pannell for his significant contribution to the business over the past three years. His clarity of thought and leadership will be missed and we wish him all the very best."
