Weekly Forex Outlook
Major economic events which have a significant impact on the forex markets for the week ending January 27th, 2012 are as under:
On Monday January 23rd, 2012, report on consumer confidence was released in euro zone. In Canada, index of leading economic indicators was released while in Australia, government data on producer price inflation was released.
On Tuesday, preliminary data on manufacturing and service sector activity was published in euro zone while Germany and France published their individual reports on the respective sectors. Data on industrial new orders was published in euro zone while in Switzerland, UBS consumption indicator was released.
In United Kingdom, official data on public sector net borrowing was reported while Bank of England’s Governor, Mervyn King addressed at a public event. Canada released its government data on retail sales on Tuesday.
In Australia, index of leading economic indicators was reported while in Japan, the central bank released its benchmark interest rate.
On Wednesday, in euro zone, report on German business climate was released by Ifo Institute. European Central Bank’s President Mario Draghi spoke at a public event. In United Kingdom, data on GDP was released along with industry data on mortgage approvals and industrial order expectations. Bank of England also published minutes of its latest monetary policy meeting.
In United States, industry data on pending home sales and crude oil inventories was released while US Federal Reserve released its federal funds rate and official rate statement. In Australia, government data on consumer price inflation was released while in New Zealand, the central banks published its benchmark interest rate and official rate statement. In Japan, the Bank of Japan released its report on economic and financial developments.
On Thursday, United States will release its official data on durable goods, unemployment claims and new home sales while in euro zone, report on German consumer climate by Gfk market researchers will be released. Industry data on realized sales is expected in United Kingdom. Market in Australia will remain close in observance of a national holiday.
On Friday, ECB will release its report on M3 money supply in euro zone while Switzerland will report its KOF economic barometer. In United States, official data on GDP for the fourth quarter will be published while University of Michigan will release its revised data on consumer sentiment and inflation expectations.
In New Zealand, official data on trade balance is due while In Japan government data on consumer price inflation and industry data on retail sales will be published. Bank of Japan will also release the minutes of its latest monetary policy meeting on Friday.
